What does the heart need for its work? Our education is dictating a rhythm of life that seems so deeply rooted in speaking about what is right or wrong that we forget to give attention to who we are and the responsibility to care for the freedom of the young people who are willing to transform the world. I think they already have this desire in them and they are not resentful about this responsibility, but it is a different type of knowledge: What they know is what they feel and they may find a safe haven in poetry, but not in education. It is disheartening for them to see that no one is investing in the future they represent. We need to stop disempowering these people with things they do not actually believe in and which continue to sacrifice their lives.
While anything truly affectionate is unlikely to happen in education, profound things do happen when our relations deepen and we remember who is already with us, people with purpose and inner resources who came into education with a longing. My work concentrates on the human side of learning and includes these intelligences and levels of information. I have seen that we can become part of and inspired by each other’s lives when we do not limit the areas a conversation can go into. I believe our students are already asking for this work that makes self-recovery and deeper engagement possible.
These conversations have also changed me. While they can make a life more challenging, we become hopeful when we uncover hidden possibilities and receive the ontological impulses that spark the heart to say the things that matter. But this work that empowers a person with their own creativity is difficult, particularly when many of us are lost and we lack a modern science of the soul. Deep Callings is founded upon an intuition that there is a need for an education that speaks to more of us and which does not block the exchange that takes place when people come together for learning. Our intention is to make communities for this other purpose where what is inherently meaningful can surface from a deep place and that help people become qualified for the future. We lead from this love for the future and believe it is time to strengthen our commitment to love a future we cannot yet see. We are here because we want to know who also believes in this work and we invite you to experience the generative potential of what we do.
Join us in the ‘Living Well: A Mode with Heart’ course to become more conversant with these perspectives and rhythms. We can also prepare a workshop for your community or organisation as an hour for the soul. And in the mentoring programme you can work with me in a one-to-relationship to nurture this different kind of being that revisions reality from a deeper level.
